R/S Inventory

  • As of the end of 2007, total rolling stock fleet consist of 18,758 trains, which break down to 920 high speed trains, 3,225 power cars, 1,411 passenger cars, 13,183 freight cars and 19 crane cars.

    In terms of breakdown by type, 3,225 power cars include 422 diesel locomotives, 566 diesel railcars, 151 electric locomotives, 2,086 electric railcars running in the Greater Seoul area and 1 steam locomotives. 1,411 passenger cars consist of 104 Saemaeul coaches, 1,031 Mugunghwa coaches, 185 generator coaches and 91 other coaches. In addition, 13,183 freight cars are divided into 1,171 box cars, 3,626 gondola cars, 3,240 flat cars, 4,947 tank cars, 35 caboose cars, and 164 baggage cars. 19 crane cars consist of 125 ton car (1), 150 ton cars (14), 180 ton car (1) and 200 ton cars (3) while 920 high speed cars include 184 Class 1 passenger cars, 552 Class 2 passenger cars, 92 motorized cars and 92 motor cars respectively.
